Obituary for Patricia Ann Harris

Patricia Ann Harris
Patricia Ann Harris passed away May 2, 2018 in Waco, TX.

Services will be in Uniondale, New York at a graveside service at a later date.

Patricia was born, August 18, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of Elizabeth and John Thoms, the eldest of two children.

She went to fashion college in Manhattan, NY. Early in her career she was employed by Macy’s in New York and was also a “window dresser/designer”. She modeled as a teenager as well as after having 3 children. Patricia had a wonderful career with Motors Insurance Corporation in New Orleans and retired with them, then went on to be an office manager at Delta Systems, a software company also in New Orleans. She lived in New York, Maine, Maryland and Florida, but she spent most of her years in and called Pontachatoula and New Orleans, Louisiana home. She enjoyed working and loved her co-workers, who eventually became life- long friends. She was an avid reader, collected early American antiques and was a respected antique clock collector. Patricia was also active in the dog show arena and always owned a dog. She and a friend showed and campaigned her Great Dane into a championship title. She loved the New Orleans Saints, and enjoyed watching golf, but mostly, she loved clothes shopping. Patricia lived in River Ridge with her husband Raymond Harris for almost 40 years, then moved to Waco, TX in 2016.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Harris, her parents and her brother.

Patricia is survived by her children, Scott Forde and wife, Pat from Lacombe, LA, Linda MacQuinn from Metairie, LA, and Donna Terrase from Waco, TX. She also leaves behind a dear friend that became more like one of her own and a sister to her children, Susan Wright of Pontachatoula, LA; grandchildren, Shannon Brown, and husband Lee from River Ridge, LA, Amanda Forde from New Orleans, William MacQuinn and wife, Jamie from Metairie, LA., and Dominique Terrase from Waco, TX; and great grandchildren, Braden Brown and Skylar MacQuinn.

Special thanks to the nursing staff that cared for her in her last months.

She will be sorely missed by many. The words of wisdom that she shared and advice she offered will be in the hearts of those that knew her to help guide us in life.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Companion Animal Alliance in Baton Rouge, LA.
