Obituary for Diana Sue Alvarado

Diana Sue Alvarado passed away on November 7, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. A Memorial Service will be 7 p.m. Friday November 15, 2019 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral home.
She was born July 6, 1963 in Waco, TX to Leonor and Julian Vasquez. She was a graduate of Jefferson Moore High School class of 1981 where she participated in band, flag corp. and cosmetology. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a great baker, but an even better cook. She opened her home and heart to anyone in need (and in her own words) “her strays”. Many of her grandchildren’s friends were fortunate enough to be welcomed into her heart and treated as her own flesh and blood. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren shopping, going to the park, having picnics, and going to the movies. She could be spotted at Lake Air, Southern and Challenger Little League fields on the same day. She enjoyed watching all her grandchildren play softball and baseball and was their biggest fan. She enjoyed spending her free time at Bingo and loved her Bingo family. She also liked taking trips to Windstar Casino and loved having breakfast and lunch at Valles Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Leonor Vasquez, daughter, Sylvia Alvarado, and brother, David Vasquez.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Alvarado, Jr. of 45 years; her father, Julian Vasquez; daughters, Virginia Russell and husband, Andrew, Monica Alvarado and husband, Martin Saucedo; sons, Gilbert Alvarado III and wife, Belinda Munoz, Robert Alvarado and wife Annette, Julian Alvarado and wife, Emily, Xavier Alvarado and Dylan Alvarado; 17 beloved grandchildren; her “fantasy husband”, George Strait; sisters, Anita Vasquez, Cynthia Mendoza and husband, Gilbert, and Dolores Romo.
